As one of the most important events in the 20th Century, the second world war still has a major impact on our lives today.
This term we will be delving into some of the key moments of the conflict, learning about: causes of the war, evacuees, the impact on the Home Front, key Nations and their leaders, Anne Frank, D-Day and VE Day.
In Literacy we will be exploring newspaper articles and short stories. Our narrative will be using the full breadth of descriptive skills including similes, metaphors, personification and pathetic fallacy.
In Numeracy, Year 5 will be continuing to work on the four operations and extending into fractions and statistics, while the Year 6 children will be looking at fractions, % and decimals in detail and applying their understanding to problem solving.
